British AI infrastructure company Nscale is reportedly seeking up to $3.5 billion in additional financing ahead of a potential initial public offering (IPO) later this month, as demand for artificial intelligence computing infrastructure continues to expand.
According to a report cited by TechCrunch, the proposed financing could include $1.5 billion in convertible notes from a group of investors and a further $2 billion in financing from Nvidia. The fundraising discussions come as Nscale positions itself for a possible public-market debut.
Nscale Pursues $3.5 Billion Financing
The reported $3.5 billion financing would provide Nscale with additional capital before an expected IPO. Convertible notes typically begin as debt and can later be converted into company equity under agreed terms.
Nvidia has already backed Nscale. The chipmaker participated in the company’s $1.1 billion Series B funding round in March, which was led by investment firm Aker. Nscale described that financing as the largest Series B round in European history.
The company previously raised $155 million in Series A funding in December 2024, highlighting the rapid increase in investor interest surrounding AI infrastructure.
Nscale Builds AI Compute Infrastructure
Nscale is focused on providing computing infrastructure for artificial intelligence workloads, a sector that has attracted substantial investment as companies expand their use of advanced AI models.
The growing demand for computing capacity has increased the strategic importance of data centers, specialized hardware, and large-scale infrastructure capable of supporting AI workloads.
Nscale’s fundraising efforts come amid a broader wave of capital flowing into AI infrastructure companies, particularly those positioned to provide computing resources to major AI developers.
Anthropic Deal Strengthens Growth Outlook
Nscale recently entered into a deal with Anthropic reportedly valued at approximately $45 billion, further increasing attention on the company ahead of a possible IPO.
Reports have also indicated that Nscale has presented potential investors with a projected revenue figure of around $103 billion connected to customer agreements. That figure represents projected revenue based on signed customer leases rather than money already generated through current sales.
The distinction is significant as investors assess the company’s growth prospects and financial position ahead of a potential public listing.
Nvidia Deepens Role in AI Infrastructure
Nvidia’s reported involvement in the proposed financing reflects the chipmaker’s expanding role across the AI infrastructure ecosystem.
Beyond supplying processors used for AI computing, Nvidia has increasingly invested in companies and infrastructure projects that support the broader AI technology stack. Its involvement with Nscale follows its participation in the company’s Series B round earlier this year.
If completed, the additional financing would give Nscale substantial capital as it prepares for the next stage of its growth and potentially transitions from a private company to a publicly traded business.
TechCrunch reported that it contacted both Nscale and Nvidia for comment regarding the financing discussions.
